I just bought an Apple Watch Ultra for everyday use, as well as a Gold stainless steel series 8 for dress up. Since The series 8 won’t be worn much how should I keep it charged to not ruin the battery? Is it ok to keep it on a charger for days or months at a time without using it, or should I take it off the charger and let it sit in my watch box and run it down to zero and then repeat? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

charge the battery to 50% and switch the watch off to preserve its battery, if it’s going to take a month between consecutive uses.

What yepp said: store it at around 50% in a room temperature environment, ideally. Also, you should NEVER leave something on a charger for that long as a) you'll generate heat when the battery starts to lose a bit of charge and the charger charges that from being inactive while being on and b) a battery was meant to be discharged and then charged again, which is known as a charging cycle.

What you want to do is use your battery in an efficient way and try to charge it to a point where you think that you have enough juice to get you through your day, and then charge it again once you don't think it's enough to repeat that. In other words, even if it's not low, topping off your battery once you get below a doable charge percentage would be best and then rinse and repeat. Better to charge up to or near full and then run it down to say, 50% before topping off again, than to run the battery down to empty and then charge it up to max again as this will account for one full cycle, which all batteries are rated for at a certain amount before degrading in their abilities to retain a charge!

Technically shouldn't need to do anything - optimized charging should automatically kick-in if you leave your watch primarily on the charger.

I purchased my S6 at launch, so that was 2 years ago. I keep it on a charger all the time unless I’m wearing it that day (I have a lot of watches).

I just checked the battery health. It’s now at 91%. To me, that’s a normal rate of decay. Actually, it’s a slower rate than any of my iPhones have been.

Up to you. The other advice in this thread is sound. But if you think 9% loss over two years is acceptable, it’s a much simpler way.

I’m having issues sharing activity data between the ultra and my 7. I turned it on in settings but no joy. Any ideas?
