Hi,

I searched and read a few threads about connecting external displays to rMBP, but I'm just confirming what I read before my purchase.

I have a mid 2014 rMBP without an external graphic card (base model). I want to run two Asus MZ27AQ (2560x1440) displays at the same time. I want to to connect them via miniDP (thunderbolt 2) to DP (I guess for each their own cable?). Wondering if the above configuration would work?

These are the cables:

Is there a way to connect both displays to an adapter and have to connect only one cable to my laptop? Also just to confirm, I can't run two 4K@60Hz displays with 2014 model, is that correct?

Thanks!

I have this setup at the office. I was only able to get it to work with a DP cable to one monitor and an HDMI cable to the other monitor. I need to close the laptop cover to get native resolution on both external monitors. It is a sweet work setup though.

Using both TB ports did not work for me.

I just tested my 2015 MBP and it will drive both QHDs and the internal monitor with ease. I suspect I could also hook up a third external monitor. I guess there are benefits to discrete graphics.
