I'm new to the forum and iphone 4s but my my txt messages are going to multiple people who are not in my contact list? Dont know them, and have no idea why this would happen. This device is a fickle *itch, but messages going to random people seem much....

Did you compose a fresh new text, or hit reply to one you received? You might have received a message sent to multiple people (group messaging). When you reply, your reply goes back to the group.

Settings -> Messages -> Group Messaging -> OFF

I find it really weird that they have that on by default

TXT messages are going to strangers

Yesterday they guy also getting my txt messages replaced his broken phone and by some idiotic reason his IDs on AT&T side got synchronized with mine, so I was able to see all messages addressed to him as well as his replies all morning. Most probably, because my phone is listed as first in his contact list because of my first name. Nor Apple or AT&T was able to give me a definite answer of how the F is this possible. Apple is investigating and assigned senior specialist to this, requested me to restore my phone to a factory settings. I had other person’s phone number listed under iPhone “iMessage” settings. Damn nonsense.
