Fetch your blob using iFaith, redsn0w, or an older version of tinyumbrella (these fetch the latest from Apple directly while older ones are fetched from cydia's server, if they were saved)
These won't be differentiated between "erase" or "update". As said above, you either have them or you don't
Since it's a 3GS, as long as you have valid SHSH blobs, you can downgrade iOS 7 and below. You just need to stitch the blobs into an ipsw for its respective version using iFaith or redsn0w. Put device into PWNed DFU mode and restore with the custom made ipsw
Of course, downgrading too far "down" may also cause baseband problems
And as far as I'm aware of, even older devices CURRENTLY cannot restore to any iOS 8.x firmware
