Typing adds extra words...ffs!

Hey guys,

I recently updated to Big Sur and randomly when typing I get double words or half words.
Example sentences of what kind of double type I get:
- I likeike trains
- Playtimeytime is over pal
- Coulduld you come over?

I tend to get the double typing mostly on the first written word. I also get the double typing with:
- using external keyboard
- using any software that can be typed in

My keyboard works like a charm
Never ever have I spilled anything on my keyboard or applied pressure or any other damage

You know about the problems that the 2016 models have with the butterfly keyboard, right...?

If I was you (and I realize I'm not you), I'd make an appointment RIGHT NOW for the nearest Apple Store genius bar and take it in and ask for a keyboard replacement.

I'm thinking you may be "out of the extended warranty" (Apple extended the warranty on the keyboard to 4 years for these, because of the problems), or "getting close".

But you still might be "close enough" where they'll offer the replacement free.

But again, DON'T WAIT on this.
If you do, you're gonna lose.

I find it odd that it would be an issue with the keyboard if it does it with externals as well. Very strange issue, if you can make another user account and try it on the second account that might be a potential indicator?

Not really related, but I have the same issue on my iPhone. Portions of my messages appear twice sometimes. It's completely random when it happens but it's been more often recently.

Thank for your reply. I am aware of it yes. My keyboard has been flawless so far and I do a lot of typing daily. I'm sure replacing the keyboard would not fix anything since this is not a hardware issue. The warranty is already past so I'm afraid it's too late anyways.

This seems in the same ballpark as the thread I just made about my 2017 MBP issues and makes me feel a little more confident about my theory that the T1 chip is a problem causer.

Very interesting... I will now make a new user account. If that doesn't work I will re-install iOS
