I use Office 2004 and I was wondering when typing Japanese if anyone knew how to get the furigana above the kanji.

From this page: http://redcocoon.org/cab/mysoft.html#sysanchor

"... MS Word X and Word 2004 include a lineup of features for working in Japanese, like vertical text, "ruby" or furigana and special text formatting not used in English. To activate these features you need to use a program called the Microsoft Language Register (included on the install CD). Just Copy that program from the CD to your hard drive and drag your MS Word application icon on top of it."

The short version: Get out your Word X / Word 2004 CD and look for the Microsoft Language Register on there and install that. And then maybe type "furigana" in MS Word help? Don't write in Japanese so that's as far as I can help you.

Use "Phonetic Guide" Feature in MS Word

I run the redcocoon.org site referred to in the earlier posting. Once you activate the Japanese features of MS Word using the method described, the command you should access is "Phonetic Guide" under the Format menu.
