Typing lagging in iMessage and Whatsapp after update

I've noticed that typing is consistently and excruciatingly slow in Messages and WhatsApp (but not in other messaging apps like Telegram and Signal). Has anyone noticed this, and any ideas about how to fix it?

I have this same issue - any fix you've noticed?
Scouring the web suggests that it might be related to real-time antivirus software but I'm not running anything in particular with the exception of Adguard...

No progress, unfortunately. I do have some company-issued Sophos running in the background but I can't it off to test. I also read online that some people fixed the issue by turning on Apple Intelligence. That option isn't available for me, because I'm not in the US. Perhaps it'll help you!

Both typing and dictation are extremely slow in iMessage, but not other apps. I used dictation a lot, and this is annoying.

I'm also having the same problem. It seems to only be in the Messages app. It it slow enough it made me wonder if my computer was infected with something...

Also seeing this. Would encourage reporting it through Feedback Assistant. Even if you aren't running beta, you can use the magnifying glass to search for Feedback Assistant and report it.

The latest update to macOS 15.2 fixed the issue in Messages, but WhatsApp has got worse. Any ideas on how to fix it? I have Apple Intelligence enabled, in case that's relevant...
