hey guys, can anyone from the u.s help me out? im in aus and looking to get a friend to buy a 16gb iphone for me from the u.s,

1) is all they need a U.S credit card
2) do they have to sign any contracts
3) if they buy it in store, can they just say they are going to take it home and activate it?

cheers guys, i doing my research, in case the rumors were false that the iphone is being launched in aus on feb 24

personally id like to save my 500 that i won't be paying to an ebayer and get the phone for ~553.00 AUD and whatever postage, in the end will save close to 450 or so!

cheers

they need a credit card to buy it (from either the apple or ATT store)
They have to activate it at home (through iTunes).. thats the only way

When they activate they will "sign" a contract

cheers, thanks for the reply!

if it falls through here ill be doing exactly that!

I just did this today. You cannot go into an AT&T store to buy an iPhone, they require a valid US drivers license before they will sell it to you. An apple store however will sell it to you with any credit card no problem.
