So 20 years ago I wanted a U2 iPod but never had the money to get one, now I would like to get one and I found this on eBay but I'm wondering how I can tell if it's Legit before buying

eBay iPod U2

Looks like it's not authentic. Right there on the description it says front and back cover are all new. Given that Apple stopped manufacturing this over 15 years ago, then they must be made by a third party.

There are lots of sellers, all from China. Not sure U2 were a big enough deal there back in the day for these to have even sold there at all. These are either refurbished/remanufactured from recycled e-waste or straight up fakes tapping into the retro market. I doubt a single one of the "original" boxes is more than a month old.

It depends on what you want. There were four different U2 iPods: https://apple.fandom.com/wiki/IPod_U2_Special_Edition

Any of the originals will be in well used condition at a reasonable price, or expensive if as-new. Even reputable sellers like Elite Obsolete will sell you a 'new' U2 iPod. At least from them you would get a warranty and an SD card upgrade. The only original part will be the logic board: https://eoe.works/collections/apple...nced-black-red-black-u2-special-edition-black
