I'm thinking of getting a 5th generation U2 iPod, as you may well of guessed from the title.
I want an iPod which is different from all the other ones at school. I origianlly was going to get a red nano, but then one of my mates went out and got one (sod). Anyway, I was wondering whether any of you lot had one and whether it comes with the 5.5 version of the iPod video and whether it has the new headphones.:apple:

I am pretty sure it is the 5.5 model. Check at a local apple store if you are not sure.

There are both 5th gen and 5.5 gen versions of the U2 iPod...the 5 gen will only have 320x240 screen res...and the 5.5 has 640 x 480 resolution. I can't find the Model # info on the 5.5 gen model, but the older 5 gen is model #MA452LL/A (you can check the iPod by going to Settings > About and scrolling down).

The resolutions of the two are actually both 320x240, the 640x480 thing is the resolution that the iPod can take to downscale.

A first gen iPod will also be different :D Just hard to find though.

I tought that wasn't a difference between the 5 and the 5.5. The 5.5 had a 60 percent brighter screen but not a higher resolution screen. Maybe you're confusing the iTMS movies that were offeres at 320x240 and are now offered at 640x480.

You guys are right...I was inferring from Mactracker's data, which didn't mention the brightness but mentioned the differing video media specs.
