Tell me what I'm doing wrong.. I'm out of ideas
Step 1:
Backed up Fat32 External onto Ubuntu 11.10
Step 2:
Formatted Fat32 External into Extended (Journaled) on Lion 10.7.3
Step 3:
Found out that HFS+ doesn't work on Ubuntu 11.10
Step 4:
Opened "Disk Utility", Held the "Option" key while clicking the "File" menu enable the "Disable Journaling" option.
Step 5:
Hooked the Extended format External to Ubuntu 11.10 and it works!
Step 6:
Restored all of my files from Ubuntu 11.10 back onto my Extended format External and everything is going well.
Step 7:
Plugged the Extended format External into my Macbook Pro and suddenly there's a red no entry looking icon over every folder inside the external!
Step 8:
Selected External, pressed "Command+i" to bring up information. In the "Sharing & Permissions" section I selected the Lock icon in the bottom right, typed in my password, and selected the check box for "Ignore ownership on this volume"
Step 9:
I now have access to all of the files but some of them have a little lock icon on them and I can't delete any of the lock icon files. It tells me I need to type in my password to delete them, so I do and then nothing happens.
Step 10:
Here I am out of ideas so I'm asking for some advice on this situation I have here. What else is there I can do so I can delete the old files as I sort through them on my external?!
