Whenever I'm booted into Ubuntu MATE 16.04, it takes about 5 seconds to highlight a new item in the menu bar, and whenever the volume changes via the keyboard, it takes 2 seconds to take effect and have the volume icon appear on-screen. General desktop use feels sluggy, and it can also take forever to do some simple tasks, like select a tab, or select a right click selection.
I suspect PulseAudio, because whenever it's killed from MATE System Monitor, the system goes back to being its snappy self.
I really don't want this to kill my experience of Linux on my Mac Pro. Help?
