It's almost 5pm and I'm at 22% of battery left, which means I will NOT make it through my workout. This never happened in the prior OS, and my day today is not any different than it was yesterday.

So...

What are the things WatchOS 7 is doing that will hit battery life hard? I will need to disable them. Disheartening discovery.

Same here I opened a thread earlier about it, by this time of the day I should be at around 50% and I’m at 10% I put the watch on at 8am. Terrible battery life :/

Same. I’m not concerned though. It will settle down. There probably a lot of background stuff going on.

Reactions: Never mind
I updated yesterday, gave it a quick charge this morning up to 100% and it had only dropped by 14% when I specifically looked at the battery, over six hours later.
To me that seems like quite a dramatic improvement.

I restarted and I can’t see the battery dropping. Usage and standby times aren’t the same anymore. Before I restarted there was only a three minute difference.

I updated my 10 month old series 5 from watchOS 6 to the latest 7.3.1 a week ago. I thought by waiting half a year that Apple would have worked out the issues with watchOS but unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case. On watchOS 6 I consistently finish the day with approx 50% battery life remaining. With watchOS 7 it has been consistently 30% remaining battery life. It’s not the end of the world since I charge daily but it’s disappointing that it drains so much without providing any real benefit/new functionality

I fully charged mine series 5 last night about 9 PM (took a little over an hour). I wear it overnight for sleep tracking. I exercise during day (indoor bike) and right now 8:30 PM the battery is at 33%. This latest OS hasn't hurt the battery at all. It is at 91% in battery health.
