Anyone see something wrong here..
ssdbenchmark.png

So I finally got my Vertex 2 installed.. booted in 15.24 sec.:D

So.. I disabled the free fall sensor and unchecked the sleep HDD/SDD thing cause it's unnecessary

Anyway.. I did a benchmark and those are the results.. should be way faster than that!! what is the problem here ?

and on a side note.. How do I boot OS X in 64 bit mode.. and it it recommended?

Thanks for your help guys

I'm not knowledgeable in this area at all, but to my untrained eye, those numbers look great! 170 to 180 MB/sec sustained read, that seem super fast to me. What sort of numbers were you expecting?

I'm pretty sure that's right. Those are really high numbers. For reference, I have attached the disk test portion from my computer, which has a WD Scorpio Black in it, which is one of the best performing 7200s on the market. Your score is over 3x what mine is, which is pretty darn good, not to mention a 15s boot. As far as 64-bit, OS X normally operates as a 64-bit OS, but uses a 32-bit kernel. You can boot into the 64-bit kernel, but it takes a while and won't provide you with any benefit, as there are very limited applications in which that is useful at the moment.

Those numbers seem fine to me

Here's my OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD results, just to show you not to worry.

My Vertex2 gets this:

But Xbench is kinda old and not good for testing SSDs (from what i've read), here's my result from Aja system test:

Your SSD is performing really well. Keep in mind, your maximum performance is limited by the Sata bus to 300 MB/sec. Then, the bus performance is limited by your main bus, memory usage and CPU usage etc. In other words, your SSD has increased your overall system performance to near capacity. If you run xbench 3 times in succession, you will see 3 different results.

New OCZ Vertex 2 on my relatively new Macbook Pro 6,2: 322.14 is the disk test summary.

I think I'll be pretty happy with that.
