Ugly background picture

I love the iPad, but I can't figure out why Apple introduced it to the world with that ugly background picture/wallpaper. Anyplace we can go to see the other ones that are on the iPad out of the box? (Yeah, I have plenty of my own photos I'll be using, too)

It's just that standard, dark meteor shower pic seen on every iPad shot since January. It looks like something from Windows Vista to me.

Everyone has different preferences, but the fact you can change it to any picture you have loaded makes it a rather pointless argument.

If you don't care for it, change it.

That's true.

I guess I'm just used to Apple flashing some truly lickable eye candy on new products. If I licked this, I'd scrape my tongue on a rock, get burned by sizzling meteors, or go colorblind from the ugly green/gray smoogze.

Will definitely be changing it.

gonna have to agree with the OP. The default background picture isn't very appealing.

The mountains go right through the center where there were no app icons thus "filling in" the screen and not making it look so plain.
