Hi!

I've been happy so far over the last year with my iPhone X. However, in winter the glass started to separate from the housing, so I got a replacement phone. My first iPX had a perfect display, with really great white accuracy. The replacement did not.
Nevertheless I got a really great deal on a Xs (did basically sell the X for the same price I got the Xs for), so I exchanged my X for a Xs.
It got the exact same issue as my iPhone X replacement. I compared the device to several units in the Apple Store, some of them having a great display, while others do not.

When looking straight to the device I notice a heavy green tint, while when slightly tilting the device, the greenish white turns to "perfect" again. Does anyone else have this issue too?

Is Apple already using LG OLED Panels in iPhones? (https://www.oled-info.com/etnews-lgd-start-shipping-oled-panels-apple-december-2018)

Honestly, I think this display looks absolutely horrible, remembering me of an old Galaxy S3 (Regarding to the white tint)

BTW TrueTone is turned off.

I went to the Apple Store today, unfortunately the Genius told me that he couldn’t see anything unusual and therefore he would not swap my device.
While also mentioning that they would have “to repair it like a thousand times until there is a display you might like and that it isn’t defective since it displays the image normally. Also there wouldn’t be many situations where one would see a fully white image on a phone”

Honestly, this was quite an awful experience, may be he had a bad day...

Can’t you just return it?

Had to exchange my XR too which had a purple tint. I notice that in the first two weeks so that was no problem. Looks like you have to use the same tactics as with other products that have bad QC now with Apple products too. E.G I always buy 3 similar lenses for my camera system to get one good copy....(that might be the result of the online return policies. Vendors are saving on QC and let this the customers do for them...)

Did he run a screen / display test?!

I suggest try a different store. The geniuses have different experience/ skill set as well just like any other employee.

Nope, he just looked at it and said it would be normal. :/

Yeah, that's a great idea, we have 2 stores here in Hamburg, so I will try the other one :)

All screens either have a green, blue, red(pink); or yellow tint to them. Your first phone probably had a blue tint which I think most people prefer and is less noticeable. Compounding if you didn’t use True Tone you’d be even more likely to not notice the tint. If you prefer a warmer display then maybe you had a yellow tint and it would be perceived to be very white. Either way we’ll never know but all screens display this tint leaning towards one of the 4 colors and it’s functioning correctly even if it’s not preferred.

I would totally agree, if the tint would be over the whole display, however it's not.
My iPhone X display did indeed have a reddish tint, which I highly prefer over green anyway, but it was uniform.
This display isn't. 2/3 of the display has a green tint, while the other third displays "normally".
When tilting the device slightly (really, slight, not like 45° or anything) this tint moves over the display, like if the polarizer would be badly applied.
Just like when everybody complained about the Pixel 2 XL, it's worse with the mentioned device.

This is not normal for OLED screens, both my Galaxy S6 Edge and Pixel OG (and iPhone X) did not have this. (of course they did have some kind of color tint)

I would make sure they replace this for you, ask for a manager if you need to, as that is certainly a defective two-color screen. I can't stand this issue myself. There are some good ones out there, but there are also certainly some real bad ones as well, but I find Apple generally always wants you to be satisfied, that genius was just being lazy.

That does look like a green tint.

Yes it does when you view the phone off axis and take the pic near the bottom of the phone pointing upwards. I see the same color shifting on my phone. Straight on its pretty uniform. I think 90 pct or so of these screen complaints are manufactured.
