Hello all. i'm having a terrible time with my iPhone and iTunes. for starters, my iPhone is synced with an iTunes library that is no longer available to me. i got a new macbook pro and i connected my iPhone to iTunes via the macbook. when i try to manually manage music and select apply, i get the hideous 'your device can only be synced with one library at a time, in order to manually manage music from your device on this library all music from your device will be deleted and synced with library.' message. okay, so i try to transfer all of my purchases from my device to the library so i don't lose much music after i actually DO sync with this library (because the majority of my music on my iPhone is all purchases from the device itself). well the first time i connected the phone to this library, it only transferred 67 of the 89 purchased songs to the library. so now when i try to transfer purchases, it comes at me with the "attempting to copy to the disc 'macintosh hd' failed an unknown error occurred (0xE8004002)" message. according to another forum, that message means there is a problem with one of the songs that it is currently trying to transfer. cool, so i believe i figured out the song .. but in order to delete it from the device and fix the problem .. i need to be synced with the library -_- so i start back at the beginning. i have absolutely no idea how to get ALL of my music SAFELY from my phone to the computer without paying $25.00 for a transferring program.
another problem i'm running into is that i'm still running off of the 3.1.3 software on my phone. when i connected to iTunes i clicked 'update to 4.0.1 and a message appeared stating that updating to iOS 4.0.1 will delete ALL media including iTune store purchases and all that good stuff. so now i'm extra afraid to update because i can't properly back up all of my purchased music : ( someone rescue me and my pitiful phone please! or rescue pitiful me .. hahah.
