Ugreen today added a new 300W multi-port GaN charger to its growing stock of charging accessories. The $269 brick features four USB-C ports and one USB-A port, and aims to provide enough power for desktop users requiring a single charging solution for multiple devices when away from home.

Instead of supplying fixed power output to several devices, Ugreen's latest Nexode unit operates using variable power distribution. Its most powerful USB-C port utilizes the Power Delivery 3.1 protocol to offer up to 140W, which is enough to fast-charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro up to 50% battery in around 30 minutes using Apple's MagSafe 3 cable while charging four other devices at the same time.

Running with this configuration as an example, the second, third, and fourth USB-C ports will provide 65W, 45W, and 20W, respectively, leaving 22.5W output from its USB-A port. In other configurations, the second and third USB-C ports are capable of up to 100W, while the fourth can output 45W of maximum power, according to Ugreen.

The charger includes a built-in Thermal Guard system that provides intelligent temperature monitoring, taking 6,000 temperature readings a minute in order to keep connected devices protected from overheating, overcharging, and excessive current. The Nexode 300W is also encased in a fire-resistant and flame-retardant PVC shell for added fire protection and drop resistance.

The Ugreen Nexode 300W desktop charger is available to purchase starting today for $269 on Amazon and the Ugreen website. Both sites are currently offering a limited-time deal of 26% off the retail price, or a $70 discount.

Is it UL Listed (or ETL)? I don't see this in the Amazon listing or on their website -- except the UL 94 mention, which (aside from maybe intending to mislead...) is great, except that is just for flammability and not electrical safety, which most people who are wondering about this would be really looking for.

Oh look another company that just buys goods off Alibaba and re-sells them

UGreen is actually one of the top competitors to Anker. The quality of their products is really good, and I far prefer their designs and materials to Anker. I have the 25000mah power bank and it’s a great product. Very well made.

While I'm glad we're starting to see some higher wattage USB C chargers out there, the price is just horrific.

I would love to consolidate my chargers into one device but ... the price, even discounted, is just too much of a put off for me. I've already got a few 4 port USB C chargers and a handful of single USB C port chargers but they don't go above 100w and they weren't even half this expensive.

$199 discounted, $269 list price - that’s crazy
Having USB-C universal plugs cuts down on cost don’t you know? They don’t even have to put a charger in the box! Just plug it in to the USB-C bricks you already have…

What? All your bricks are -A? Well, they make multiple port -C ones you can buy…

$200 for a charger? But it’s so convenient. And it’s on sale! Savings!

Nice product, but I do wish they'd put the high power ports at the bottom and lower power ports above that. I'm certainly going to use the higher power ones first which means the cables are draping from a higher point on the desk and it's harder to access the other ports below it.

As far as price, the Anker 100W charger looks like it's about $85 and their 150W charger is $110. Buying enough of those for 300W doesn't come in much cheaper than the retail price of this and above the current discount-- and I'd expect a premium on a unique product. It's not cheap, but it's not beyond what one might expect.

Does someone knows how its behavior when plugging/unplugging devices? I used to have a similar one where I had an Eero, HomePod Mini and MagSafe charger, when I started/stopped charging my phone in the MagSafe charger, it would restart the Eero and HomePod Mini :(

I would stay away from this brand. I had 2 bad usb c cables fail within weeks - one shorting out.
i also had 2 usb-c to ethernet adapters die within 6 month. No way I would trust them with a power supply. Buy Anker instead My 2 cents.

I have the UGreen 100W and Anker 140W, and I much prefer the size of the Anker charger. They are able to build them smaller and overall feels more well built. Nothing wrong with the UGreen really and I've had good experiences with both brands.

I kinda wish the USB A port just went away. It's taking up extra space.

I've got a mixture of UGreen and Anker things and there's not much to choose between them in terms of quality in my experience. For UK users UGreen's 65w USB C charger is nice as it isn't too expensive (about £35), not too big so great for travel and has folding three pins like the Apple's 20w charger. By the look of it the US version had folding pins too.

I just want something with 4-5 usb-c ports that are reasonably powered to charge an iPhone and iPad etc.

30-40w per port should be more than enough.

The market for iPhone/ipad charging is surely much bigger than the market for MacBook charging - and then who charges their MacBook at the side of their bed?

I don't think it is UL listed. Other than Anker, I don't think any other "amazon start-ups" have UL or any safety listings printed on their power bricks.

I have 2x20, 30, 65 watt chargers from Anker. These get the job done for me. I just take the charger that I need for my trip. In general, the 30 is fine. I only bring the 65 when I need to charge somewhat quickly. The 140 watt charger is on a shelf in the basement. The 30 was about $20 and the $65 was about $30 - just wait for sales on Anker. $200 for 300 watts? Hard pass.

Like most chargers of this type, they appear to renegotiate power with every connect/disconnect.

Come to think of it, the 100w charger I have now would be great if it was:
1. All USB-C (has one useless, for me, USB-A port)
2. No negotiation, 30w across the board (likely meaning boosted to 150w?)

I’m guessing as GaN gets cheaper, it’s possible we’d see that one day, I wonder if the port renegotiation is a part of the standard, or just something they do to be able to provide 100w to one port when needed and split when not? Because, if at least 30w is available everywhere, I really am not bothered that my laptop would only get 30w, too.
