this is probably a really dumb question, but it just struck me and i need to know the answer... will i be able to put my 250GB IDE drive into my new Mac Pro??? please say yes...

Maybe. Don't know if there are any SATA to IDE adapters out there. But you sure as hell wont be able to put one in there right away.

However even then there may not be enough space for the adapter to fit
 
yes, actually you can IF you are willing to sacrafice one of your SuperDrive bay's... just get a 5 1/4" to 3 1/2" adapter and put it in....

My mac pro came with 1 superdrive, and the 2nd bay has the ribbon cable and power connecter already there and ready.
