iOS UIPickerView to open spreadsheet cell

I am making an app with notes of the Bible in it. I have a spreadsheet already made in numbers. In the table there is a column for book, column for verse, and column for notes for that particular verse. I would like to have the app using a UIPickerView to select book chapter and verse, and once selected pull up a view with the notes from that cell referenced in the view. I have limited work with using databases or spreadsheets and could use some guidance for where to start at, if someone wouldn't mind offering a suggestion for the best method to go about doing this.
