I was wondering what band of 4G LTE the UK iPad supports? In the US they are selling two different types depending on the 4G LTE network that it will support. I understand europe operates a different band of LTE as well than US.

Neither.

The UK will operate on 2.6GHz and 600MHz, whilst the US ones operate at 700MHz and 2.1GHz.

As of now there's two LTE models.

"AT&T" version which has LTE bands 4 (AWS) and 17 (700 lower blocks B/C)
"Verizon" version which has LTE band 13 (700 upper block C) + CDMA/EVDO fall back.

I think in europe LTE is/will be used on 800 and 2600 bands, so definitely not compatibility at this time.
