Hey guys, i am begining to want 5.1 surround sound on my macbook pro.
Now i have searched other threads and the majority of these suggest toslink etc.
What i need is an external soundcard, not bothered what it connects by, which can provide me with analog 5.1 (3 different cables - front, rear, center/sub..) in both windows and mac os x.
Does such a thing exist?
I also but [UK] because if i am going to get linked to a site to purchase it from, i need it to be in the UK.
Thanks guys :)

What kind of speakers will you be using? What's your budget?

Try looking at the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX.

Which is discontinued; not to say you can't find it used or refurbished.

well i dont really want to spend more than 50 quid, i know this is a low budget but you can get external 5.1 cards for windows dirt cheap!
Andd im just going to be using my floorstanders as the front and another set of speakers as the rear and the sub/center.
