UK Cyclists

Afternoon,

Do I have any UK cyclists on MR? I'm interested in starting but when I Google this I don't seem to get a lot of response back (unlike running).

Just after some advise and where to search any kind of groups? Any help would be great.

It's been a while but I still remember some bits and bobs unfortunately it will be from a London centred, what kind of group are you looking for?

Before the Brompton I used to visit the forums on here used http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/ for information and I was thinking about signing up with https://www.islington.cc/
If you've not done so already the https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/membership/compare should have information on groups.

Maybe a group that does a bit of road training and then go from there. Something that will help beginners out to develop in to fast or long pace rides. It seems very easy for runners to find groups and build it from there then it does with cycling.

I did have a look at the 3rd link before couldn't get my head around it. I assume you sign up and can find groups and go from there? The 2nd link looked really good as well, its actually a page for a cycling group, like I said before you see a lot of runners groups, but never ay for cycling, that's sort of what I was after. Shame its a bit of a distance for me.

Do you have a local specialist cycle shop nearby? If so, they'll possibly be able to provide useful information about what's going on in the area. They may even be involved in running a group.

The other suggestion is go to your local cycle shops, if you've got a https://www.evanscycles.com/ or
http://www.cyclesurgery.com/ near by pop in and have a chat as usually they are insightful (just be prepared to be there longer than intended, they tend to be really enthusiastic).

I did not join a club myself but most clubs when I looked into it have a beginner, intermediate and advanced sub group or you all ride on the same journey and expected to complete it at different times depending on your ability and you go up (or get faster) with time, be sure to ask the club they will be more than helpful.

This may help but if you are searching online try using cycling 'club' as opposed to 'group' I found that for cycling 'clubs' get the better results.
