I'm thinking about getting myself an iphone 4 in Singapore when I go home over xmas. They are unlocked and cheaper than the UK, and with a 'christmas contribution' from my parents I reckon I could afford one. I'm with O2 at the moment but have a normal sim. Can I go and swap my sim for a micro sim? I looked on their site and all I could find was getting a micro sim when you buy the iphone from them.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Yep. I essentially did the same -bought the phone outright from apple store then just went to o2 and got a micro sim and just moved my plan an number across to the new sim.

O2 have said you can pick up a microSIM from their stores if you produce proof of order of iPhone 4, but Cribbs Causeway store at Bristol didn't bother asking for this proof. You can get in advance as the microSIM sits in a conventional SIM card - just push it out when you get the iPhone 4. You'll need to activate new SIM which O2 say can take up to 24 hours, though mine took about 5 minutes
