i read on the hackint0sh forum that it will work fine with an o2 pay and go sim. but of course you will still be paying the contract costs if you buy the phone from apple, o2 or cpw.

I put my brother's PAYG o2 sim in my iPhone 3G and it worked fine.I don't really see much point in it though as you have to sign up for a bill pay contract and even if you get it without a contract *cough* i.e. stolen the data would cost too much on PAYG.

pay and go web bolt on for data.

and there are some legitimately secondhand iphone 3gs being sold.

Had it running on Simplicity on the 12th and PAYG later on.

Works ok on a Web Max Bolt on, on Simplicity. However, the Cloud/BT Openzone isn't there, and you're not getting free Customer Services calls for example.

Got some serious data errors later on, trying to use a PAYG SIM with a Web Max bolt on after a while. You lose much of the usefulness on PAYG to be honest, through issues with data rates.

Oh I should have mentioned I'm in Rep. Of Ireland and we don't have any data bolt ons for PAYG. I had a look on Ebay and there is legitimate 3G's on there but they are so expensive they would be the same (at least for me) as paying a bill pay contract for 18 months.
