hey all as the subject suggests anyone else get this carrier update? seems strange so soon after the 4.01 update..

anyone have any ideas on what it changed as i cannot see any differences with the network/MMS settings etc..

could this be another smokescreen to mask the signal drop issues (which ironically dont affect me..not that i have noticed anyways)

Cheers

Andy..

No, carrier updates can't do anything about anything to do with signal as far as I can see, they just define how the phone is set up for data and services on the network.

I still can tether but seems speeds are throttled if download. Web page viewing is the same as before.

Another thing - I can not change APN settings anymore

That's cool. I don't tether for any "heavy lifting", just for general stuff while travelling.

I can live with that.

*edit* No apparent changes after update

The combo of this vodaUK carrier update & 4.0.1 has taken me from an unusable 3G data connection (timeouts, server not responding etc) to an almost perfect experience.. I'm almost certain it was the carrier update 7.1.

Didn't tag my own thread ;)

Tethering works fine and I CAN override my APN..

Hmmm glad It's not just me then that can't notice a difference ;)
