Just wondered if O2 Pay Monthly iPhone 6's come unlocked, and only lock to the first sim which is inserted?

I ask as I currently have an iPhone 6 which I got from Three Pay Monthly (Assuming therefore it is unlocked), however I would like to get the 6 Plus, my sister therefore has an upgrade with O2 at the moment, so I can give her my 6, and take her 6 Plus....Is this viable?

Thanks

If bought in store they may try to put sim in it to lock to the network. As far as I am away any phone other than apples lock to the first network. It's the way they are setup

Thanks, will be bought from O2 online / Phone. So if I put my three sim inside when it arrives it'll take it? And her O2 sim will work in my three (assumed unlocked) iPhone 6

My O2 iPhone 5 was locked but O2 are one of the only networks in the UK that allow you to unlock for free and this can be done at any point during your contract. To unlock you can visit their website and request it using your phones IMEI number. To finish the unlock procedure you have to put a different sim (different carrier) and connect to iTunes. Hope this helps :)

If when you pick the iPhone up or it gets delivered it is sealed then it'll lock to the first SIM card that's put into it. Just like the sim free carphone warehouse iPhones.

There are two sku's apple supplies.

1. Is completely unlocked.

2. Is unlocked but locks on insertion of the carrier sim.

If you get the iPhone direct from O2 it will be locked to O2.
If you get it from a third party i.e Car phone warehouse it will lock to the first sim that you put in it.
The only way to get a unlocked iPhone is to buy it direct from Apple.

Yes, both mine and my wife's came direct from 02 and were locked.

Not for iPhone 6 or Plus though:

We won't be unlocking iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus for a while.

We're prioritising our stock of these devices for customers who want to use them on the O2 network. The exception to this will be O2 Refresh customers who've completely paid off their Device Plan in full - we will therefore allow iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to be unlocked.
