Hi guys,

Could really use your help. Have any of you bought an iPhone either as pay as you go or on contract within the last week from a brick and mortar store in the UK? If so what firmware did it have on it? I've decided to bite the bullet but would like to be able unlock it so need a model prior to 2.2.1.

What version did your phones have?

Thanks guys and where did you get it from? :)

Personally I'd just bite the bullet and get one. You can always unlock it with a SIM proxy (despite what the dev. team implied, they're actually pretty damn reliable if you get one from a company that knows their stuff) until a software unlock comes out, and jailbreaking's gonna be possible no matter what version of the firmware you get.

Go to Carphone Warehouse if you can.

I got mine from there (PAYG) and it had 2.2 on it. I also asked how long he had had it in stock and it came in 1 week after the update.

Ask how long they have had it for in stock before buying. However, as the 2.2.1 update has been out for a while now I think you will be extremly lucky to get a 2.2 model
