UK iPhone, solutions ?

Right could people please clear me up about the UK iphone.

At the moment i see 2 options

downgrade and use as ipod touch(1.1.1)

downgrade then downgrade again (1.0.2) to be able to use it as a phone.

What do i need to do when i want to use it as a phone ?

you could sign up with O2, and get iPhone at 1.1.2 with phone features.
Or 1.1.2 has been unlocked i think ive read somewhere.

i would go with 02 but i already have a existing vodafone buisness account and im paying £150 a month already. Can't afford it at the moment.

downgrading because of some bootloader and baseband issues basically makes the iphone work except the phone capability of it

doesnt unlocking require the process of jailbreaking anyways ?
