Hi all

This is my first year upgrading within the UK upgrade programme (which appears a completely different process to the US). If doing this through the Apple Store app, what exactly is the process?

I assume one goes to the link to 'check upgrade eligibility', then select current phone, confirm eligibility. Right now you can't progress beyond this point, but am I correct in assuming that Friday from 1pm you'll be able to then choose a new phone and book a slot to upgrade in store?

Or is there some other way?

Thanks!

Yes, correct. It’s very easy and Apple will send you an email with instructions.

Can save time by favouriting your storage and colour options to save a little time as well but it is pretty simple

Thanks @craigio85

Is this process as fraught as the preorders?
Last year was a breeze and there was availability of most models throughout the first few hours. I wouldn’t fret.

However, unlike ordering the device to pay in full, you can’t backorder - so if what you want isn’t available at the store you select, you basically have to just keep checking back (or order one for in-store pickup as if you’re going to buy outright then tell the store staff it’s actually an upgrade)
