Will Vodafone unlock an iPhone in the same way that O2 do?

Are their phones locked to the network only after inserting the sim?

Will Apple unlock it as we have 3 different carriers in the UK?

Thanks in advance. :):)

As far as I know (but I don't know for sure), O2 is the only UK carrier which offers the unlocking service. I do know that it is £15 for PAYG customers, as I plan to do it before I sell my 3GS on next month.

Thanks for that, I know O2 do it as I had mine and my wife's 3GS unlocked about 3 months ago. Just sold them on Ebay for £385 (16GB) and £525 (32GB). Am asking for my brother as he is on Vodafone and is due an upgrade, problem is he travels a lot and always uses a local sim when abroad. :):)

does your contract have to come to an end to get them to unlock your iphone and if not does it cost anything and how much?

i remember reading somewhere, not sure where, that after 3 months they can unlock it. i dont know if it was true or not.

it might be worth going over to the vodafone forums and look around mate

good luck, hope he gets it unlocked as they all should be!

I got the iPhone from Vodafone on out corporate account the first day they released it (14th January if I remember correctly) and even after speaking to our account manager the answer was unfortunately NO.

I can't guarantee though that this hasn't changed since then but if I know Vodafone quite well (and I do) the answer will still be no!
