Brian Clough Way hey hey
Does any one have experience of using ISPs that filter at source in the UK ? There seem to be lots of them in the US. I recently gave up on source it / install it / look after it yourself software based filtering. I don’t have the time or the skill to mess about on my own. So I switched from TESCO broadband to Multilayer Communications.

I run an iBook G4 and USB MODEM. I use Firefox and Thunderbird.

My main concerns were speed - I haven’t noticed a difference - and filtering that didn’t work or blocked what I regard as OK sites. The filtering does work and it was easy enough to get a couple of sites “un-blocked”. I’m not getting porn or spam coming through which were my top priorities. Everything is done remotely. There was nothing to install on my PC.

Are Multilayer the only players in the UK market ? Has anyone else tried them ? The cost is comparable with what TESCO were charging me, with £ 5 on top for the filtering. I know I am paying someone else to look after me, but I look on this as peace of mind money.
