Guys, does anyone know whether the price cut of the 17" MBP also applies in the UK?

As much as I am unhappy about this "update" my wife and I will be needing a MBP for our work so if the price drop does apply AND we get our 17% education discount it wouldn't too bad a deal. We're getting shafted but hey it's our decision to take it up the **** as our jobs mean FCP is a must!

Looking at the old model in John Lewis and the new model on Apple/uk it seems the new one costs £10 more.

Top 15" was £1531 new £1799 (i7) £1649 (i5)

Top 13" was £1174 new £1249
Low 13" was £899 new £999

The US price of the low 13" including VAT works out to around £920
So bottom raping all around.

Ouch, I was planning to replace my white macbook C2D with a new 13inch but won't bother now. Tiny performance boost, slighty lighter, athough better looking and much longer battery life. However I lose the replaceable battery and matte screen. Hardly earth shattering for 3 years of progress and another £999.

I'll wait for another year and see what they come up with.

I too am out. I think I'll just invest in a 2nd hand MBP!
