Rumours are strong that BT plans to buy either O2 UK or EE. BT is supposedly is more interested in EE than O2 but BT would apparently "settle" for O2.

Hutchison are also considering purchasing O2 (Hutchinson being 3 UK's parent company), should BT purchase EE or BT's talks with O2 fall through. These rumours have been going on for many years but have been re-lit recently after Hutchison purchased O2 Ireland.

What does everybody think about this?

Nothing will change except prices will go up and data services will still stink.

Gave up mobile carriers a long time ago.

BT shouldn't have sold Cellnet anyway and EE obviously bit off more than it could chew by absorbing Orange and T-Mobile.

And now its all going all going back full circle. If Ofcom allow it.

Neither option is compelling, I don't see how as a customer I'll benefit in any way. If anything, it would throw EEs customer services department further into free fall :/

EE and 3 have a great deal in common, for a start they both have customer service, that is almost non existent, so if 3 were to take over EE niether companies customers would notice the difference, O2 do almost have a customer service, so if BT or 3 took over it would be to O2 customers detriment.

3 taking over either will be a good move. A lot of people think the three of yesteryear were poor but the three of today is bang on the money. I've been with them now for 4-5 years and there great!
