UK: O2 are up to something ...

Not sure what, exactly, but as I passed the O2 shop in Nottingham town centre at 7:50 this evening, there were shopfitters overhauling the interior and a full window display shrouded in white wrapping.

Couldn't make out the text, nor get a good look at what they were up to indside, but there was definitely an Apple logo under the wrapping in the window.

Since they've reportedly sold out of the 8Gb model already, I'm curious as to what they will be promoting ...

Advertising being out of stock?!? LOL

Perhaps moving the Apple logo to the back of the store?

Post tomorrow with the update please...I am curious.
 
My informer tells me that CPW are letting stocks deplete and not restocking til the new one comes out, though he didn't know a date.
 
Wow... I hope there's some sarcasm in that post. Your "informer" I bet is just your average CPW wage slave and this "information" he's provided you with is common knowledge now. It's gone End Of Life. The OP was also talking about O2 stores, not necessarily CPW.

They're draining the stock now, which is early. Running out of all models is bad and I can't see a situation where the release date will be ahead of WWDC. The new 3G phone is bound to come with firmware 2.0.
 
This would be easier if there was an O2 store in my town, just a crappy CPW though. Can anyone with an O2 store nearby confirm/deny this report of a new stand?
 
Yea isn't this happening all too fast? Maybe Europe is getting the 3G iPhone early?
 
Saw this thread last night and walked past the o2 shop on my way to work. nothing has changed. same signs in the window as before, and nothing changed inside the store

I've seen that thread, but that doesn't mean that you're nearly 2 weeks behind with that little bit of info. You said nothing new or specific.

Sorry, folks - a change of plans means that I won't be going home through the town centre tonight, so I won't be able to take a look at the store until Friday.

I freely admit it could quite easily be a bit of spring-cleaning, but I was struck by the covering of the displays and the lateness of the hour at which the blokes were working.

Either way, I will report back even if only to confirm the lack of substance to my original post ...

Couldn't it be about O2's new broadband for consumers and their Business broadband out today?
 
went past while i was on lunch and the external iphone signage has been taken down and replaced with promo material for their broadband and their £25 simplicity tariffs
 
be soooo good if it gets released in europe first..uk included..makes sence since europe have 3g ocverage and more consumers using it
 
Wouldn't we expect all the O2 shops to be doing something similar if it was significant? Intriguing though. :)

Would you expect the new phone to be released without first seeing invitations to a 'press event' if it was announced outside WWDC?
