UK owners - can I use pre pay sim in original iPhone

I also have the original iPhone also and was wondering can I use the pre pay sim card that I got with my 3GS in the original iPhone and benefit from using unlimited web on that.... It's only edge remember? Was thinking of lending it to sum 1 to use
