This is a new insurance comparison service for gadgets in the UK. I just seen it on Twitter because Macworld UK reported on it.

I just checked insurance for my Macbook Pro and the cheapest one it listed was For Theft, Breakdown, Accidental Damage is was £90 for the year which covers you Worldwide and the Excess is £25-£75 from a company called World Wide Insure.

Seems like a good deal to me.

Anyone find anywhere cheaper?

The cheapest way will be to extend an existing insurance policy to cover the MBP. For instance my business insurance covers mine for an extra £40/year. Many home insurance policies can also be extended in the same way.

I get full cover against loss/damage/theft etc (in or away from the home) included with my Directline home insurance. (in UK)
It costs NO extra on their Insurance Plus policy.

Hmm

I just want some for when I am back down University.

I wonder if my Mam's house insurance would cover my stuff when I am living down University.

£90 sounds pretty competitive. I got mine from here:

I've been buying insurance for them for several years now. I've never had to make a claim though so I still don't know how good they are.

Try adding to home insurance, I added mine for £11 per year,

Covers Loss, Theft, Acc/Dam.

Dependant on the price of you MB it may cost nothing more, It depends on policy, e.g on mine if an item is > £1000 you must tell them and they will charge < £1000 is already covered away from home.
