Trying to find an ipod touch in the UK is bit of a mission impossible.. Now you can go for the online gamble and order from Apple or John Lewis, Argos, etc.

But what I want to know is has anyone been able to walk in off the street any just buy an ipod touch?

Have you been able to do it? If so which shop and what location?

This is not right.. Can't believe you got one sooo easily...

When did you see them at Brent Cross and M.K?

Well all I can say is 'Congrats' to those of you who have been able to get your hands on an ipod touch..

I thought living in Reading, Berks ( Uk Silicon Valley  ) I wouldn't have a problem finding one but that ain't the case.. I will keep my search going.. :(

There in abundance in the north, I’ve seen them in most big high street stockists (John Lewis etc and friends have seen them in a few other high street stores too!) shame mine was ordered by phone from apple

if your willing to take the plunge you can order it online form apple.com/ukstore and get free engraving... i am in the process of getting it, at the moment it is prepared for shipping ( i ordered friday night) the order was recived by them by sunday and was prepared to ship by monday ... not too shabby... reports have said it takes around 3 days to get form china to UK. Which isn't too bad + you will be the few people that have a engraved ipod touch ... recommend getting a invisible shield tho ...http://http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/3477057/The-Invisible-Shield-iPod-Touch-6G-Full-Body-Shield/Product.html this jst makes sure your engraving will never go away :D

I ordered from John Lewis on Sunday night and paid for delivery by 10:30 this morning ... woke up at half 6 because I was worried I'd miss the delivery and couldn't stay asleep xD So here's hoping ...

Order online from the Apple store and it will be yours, oh yes, it will be yours! :D

I know you won't get the instant gratification of getting it from a store, but at least you won't have to track stock movements at various stores!

I ordered mine online and got it last Tuesday :D

The Long way round......

Ordered online with Apple 17th September, "shipped" 29th September (and they took my money), still waiting to arrive in the UK. No tracking details available, Apple Customer service very vague. I suspect it's coming from China overland on the old Marco Polo silk trade route........ guess who won't be coming back to the Apple Store in a hurry?

I'd set the "Email me when back in stock" on the John Lewis website, and thankfully managed to get it ordered before they (quickly) went back out of stock.

I've been waiting in all day... come on CityLink!

Bought mine (16 gig) last friday (5/10/07) in Curry's in Canary Wharf.

None in the nearby John Lewis though.

They had some? They never seem to have any when I pop in there or am I not looking hard enough?

I expected the Waitrose Home (John Lewis) to beat Currys to the punch, but I guess not.

As Currys are part of DSG International, which is an offical Apple reseller, just like John Lewis, it is understandable.

So what we are saying is ( because I still haven't been able to walk into an establishment and just buy one ) that I need to go for either:-

Apple Store ( Brent Cross, Regent Street )
Currys
John Lewis ( Reading, High Wycombe, Brent Cross )

Interesting that no one has posted a reply to say that they have bought one in the Thames Valley ( i.e Reading / Slough / High Wycombe ) Seems to be plenty of Manchester / London area..

Wish I had just gone for the online option now.
