Ultra 1 - Still worth it?

As the U1 has already dropped on price on local stores (-100 to -150 €) I actually considering going U1 rather than U2.

I just want to make sure, if I don't oversee something:


I don't use Siri, I don't plan to use the fingertip and in terms of speed I am satisfied with S7.

So, if I dont need Siri, Fingertip or the new Chip, is there anything more? Durability? Batterylife? Features?

If not, I guess I'll pick up the U1 later for 750€ rather than the U2 for 900.

Very worth it. Even though I'm upgrading to the Ultra 2, I would highly recommend the Ultra 1 as well.

I'm also impressed with its durability. I've banged it against countless doorways, went swimming in the ocean, played physical sports, helped building my friend's home, and I have large dogs which I felt there claws scrap on my watch when they jump up on me. I can't even find a micro scratch on the frame or display.
 
Go for it - the Ultra 2 is a pretty tiny upgrade, so I'm sticking with my 1. It's getting the new watch face too.
 
While I’m upgrading my Ultra to the 2, there’s nothing wrong and it is very capable.
But, I would think that over the next month or 2 you will see better deals …
And while I’m not in Europe, it’s my understanding that the 2 has dropped in price, at least in some countries so imho even more of a reason to wait for better deals
 
Absolutely. A lot of the improvements with the Ultra 2 are software based anyway. It's essentially the same watch with a new processor. I plan on hanging on to my Ultra 1 for awhile. If you can get the original at a discount, then I'd say go for it.
 
Im getting the U2 from a AW4, honestly I don't think Apple does a lot of improvements to the watch for a few years. It's already so far ahead of the other original.
 
Sorry for the newbie question, but I have a S5 and will definitely upgrade to either an AWU or AWU2. I was hoping there would a nice price reduction of the AWU, but I haven't seen any yet...has anyone seen a price reduction in the US. Called Verizon, but they were completely useless.

Absolutely go for the original if you can get a good deal on it.

The new version is improved, but it’s not €150 improved. I love my Ultra, and, even if I had money to burn (which right now I don’t), I would not spend even €100 to upgrade. Even €50 wouldn’t entice me. I might pay a €50 premium to get the new version if given a choice between the two. Maybe.

Of course, if you can’t get the old version, or if you can’t get it at a significant discount, I would wholeheartedly recommend the new version.

Apple talks about speed and brightness. Honestly, I am the guy that wants the latest but the Ultra 2 is a wait and see at best. Save the money and put it towards bands or whatever.
 
Grabbed a used Ultra on OfferUp with the box, 3 more months of AppleCare and 100% battery health for $500. Cancelled my U2 order from Amazon.
 
I buyed the U1 for 750€ and got 260€ for my 2 years old S7.
 
U1 is still superb. If Apple hadn't of released the U2 I don't think many would have complained, it isn't really a product line that should be updated year after year especially with no colour options added.
In fact the U1 is made from virgin titanium where as the U2 is recycled titanium... what that means long term, no idea but it's nice to have an original 1st generation Apple product IMO.

Most of what was added will never be used by a large amount of buyers anyway so if you can source an U1 at a good discount, go for it!
