I have an Ultra 1 and like the look of the Black Ultra 2. Anyone upgrading from the 1 to the Black 2? Does the 2 do anything much better than the first version?

I'm considering doing it for the sleep apnea tracking. I would miss the oxygen function, but we do have a finger unit for that. I had open heart bypass surgery 3 weeks ago and I know sleep apnea can aggravate cardiac issues.

Do you (already) know if you have sleep apnea? The watch will probably be excellent for alerting people to having it and tracking how they're doing. But if you think you may have it (many people do, myself included) you should look into getting a professional sleep study test done. Going and staying overnight in their lab* is a PITA, but it's nice to know one way or another if you indeed have sleep apnea (& how severe it is and such).

*(I think some places allow you to do an at-home study with less sophisticated equipment)

People are mocking me on Facebook for saying I am going from an Ultra 1 to the new black Ultra 2

I'm a big boy so I can handle the mocking

But really, I was hoping for Ultra 3 in black this year. That did not happen.

So, I'm thinking of upgrading to Ultra 2.2, getting it in the color I wanted.

Am I crazy for doing this?

The Ultra 1 is fine but I definitely notice I have to ask Siri several times to accomplish things. This is because it has to communicate with the cloud first. Ultra 2 solves this with onboard processing which makes Siri must faster.

And I use the accessibility settings to double-click on messages on the Ultra 1, but I hear it's more fluent on the Ultra 2.

Oh, and that Milanese Loop is amazing. Would get that too.

So, again, how crazy am I for wanting to upgrade this year?

And you know what? I may sell my Ultra 2 for the Ultra 3 in another year.

I’m upgrading from ultra 1 to ultra 2 black. Too bad no ultra 3 this year. I usually upgrade every 2 years or longer for Watch. I’m mostly upgrading to ultra 2 for the black color, better battery. I had a series 6 black titanium that has dlc and it was very durable. Not scratches at all. With my ultra 1, it was scratched the first week. The ultra 2 black has dlc so I’m hoping it’s as durable as my series 6.

Does the Ultra 2 have better battery life than Ultra 1? That would go in the plus column for me when considering to upgrade.

Is the battery improved, or do you mean with a new battery overall?

I posted this several times already:
My Ultra 1 was at about 25-30% battery when I put it in the charger after about 38hrs of continuous use, my U2 is at around 40-45% with the same use case.
S9 is more efficient than S8 chip, I think battery capacity is the same, U2 might be marginally higher

Why not get tested sooner and find out for sure? It can be done at home as well with a home test the Dr sends to you.
