I was sitting on a hotel balcony yesterday morning in Northeast Thailand enjoying an Udon sunrise and a cup of coffee. I switched to the compass on my Ultra and was astounded to see that the sun was rising in the West.

Since this ran counter to my understanding of the earth's rotation I decided to check with my iPhone XR:

Sure enough, the iPhone had it right as did my wife's Watch 6.

I do have location services enabled for compass calibrations, so I thought there might be a GPS location issue. I opened GPS diagnostics on my phone, but found no GPS issues. In fact the phone found 4+ satellites all with a strong signal.

A couple of hours later my Ultra did a 180 and again displayed things as they are rather than as they might be.

I have to wonder why it was so confused.
