Ultra Action button shortcuts question/ observation.

Hi,
Ive had the action button on my ultra set to shortcut for a long time. The shortcut opens a menu of options ( flashlight, workout, wifi off and some others).
Since installing OS 10 when I press the action button it briefly shows some buttons related to the compass then shows my menu of of options.
on the top left of the screen that shows my menu of options there is an X, and if I click on that X, it brings me back to the buttons related to the compass.

Any idea on why there are buttons related to the compass? As far as I can tell, my compass is off.
