took a call outside today and noticed the volume over the call was still low. volume is full but i don’t think this seems much louder than the standard AW. what’s your thoughts?

It is louder, but not all that much.

I feel the same way. For how loud the speaker is supposed to go when using the siren, you would think it would be possible to have the speaker go louder when on a phone call. It would be very nice to have it go at least 50% louder.

My speaker is kind of hard to hear during calls. Volume turned to max.

ok agreed. i stupidly thought double speaker, double volume! it’s ok in a quiet room but not loud even when cranked

Well, one speaker is the normal speaker, the other is dedicated to the siren and not as a second speaker.

I noticed after the ios9 update my AW5 volume was about half what it was. After setting up AW Ultra the volume only seamed as loud as the AW5 was before the update......Something is fishy here.

Did Apple just pull a fast one on us AW Ultra users regarding volume louder claims????

The speaker volume on mine seems about the same as my AW7. The louder volume was one reason I got the Ultra. I tried the siren out, expecting it to be deafening. I can talk louder than that and I'm not a particularly loud talker.

Yeah, but... Apple quotes a 40% increase in volume. They don't specifiy that the db figure is taken from one speaker doing something and then later adding the db of the siren. If that's the case, their advertising is very deceptive. The siren isn't that loud, either.

you’re right. i felt it was false. my wife has the 8 and the ultra is marginally louder. now mic clarity is much better though.

Just spent a half hour on the phone with tech support. No resolution to the volume issue. I could either take it to a store or send it in for repairs. If I were the only person seeing this, I'd do that, but I hesitate, since y'all are also seeing this. We have no local Apple Stores locally and it's a ride through the mountains to get to one. Mailing it in would mess up my trade-in window, as I woudn't want to send the Series 8 back and be without a watch while they repair it.

I would suggest that anyone else having this problem also call tech support, so they know that this isn't an isolated issue. The more calls they get, the more likely they'll look for a faster fix.

Great idea, I think I will do this too, my call volume seems worse than my Series 7, if it was the same I wouldn't care but it legitimately seems worse and I thought it was implied at the very least, that it would be louder, maybe I'm wrong?

Sound volume is typically measured on a logarithmic scale, where +10db is 10 times the sound intensity. However, +10db is perceived as only twice the loudness.
So a 40% increase in sound intensity corresponds to +1.5db ( calculated as 10 log1.4), which is perceived as only about 10% louder.
There’s a calculator here for those that want more background

I thought maybe something was a bit off with mine but seems this is par for course. To me it hasn't been noticeably better.

My speaker volume is quite a bit louder than on my series 7. The siren, on the other hand, wasn’t as loud as I expected. Then again I was on the beach where sound dissipates easily. That said, how do you increase the watch volume?

so i did this. they sent it back. said no issues. i think it’s just crap volume

i sent mine in for low volume and they said it was normal. so it’s just not as loud as we were meant to believe. would i take a call on a busy street? no. on windy mountain, no.

it’s no different than the regular AW.

I just purchase the Ultra Watch thinking the volume would be louder. Boy was I wrong and disappointed. I have to say that I am scratching my head, for when I ask Siri a question, she answers me nice and loud.

I use watchtube for listening to videos like a podcast as podcast apps dont have the option to use the buildin speakers :/ its plenty loud for me almost on par with my Iphone 12. but! when i have a phone call it sounds less loud...

Perhaps different apps different volume option?

It doesn't matter to me how low the volume is, and that's because I DO NOT want anyone over hearing my conversation, so I religious on using my watch and ear pods.
