Awesome - what's the safest way to update, preserving my 04.26.08 baseband? Guess I have make custom firmware but what do I use

I have a 3GS with 5.11.07 on it currently jailbroken with 3.1.2. Should I wait for the official launch from the dev team not using iOS4 GM, but the regular iOS4 or will GM be the one launched by the dev team after the official release date anyway?

Misleading thread title. Technically it's not the 4.0 unlock unless it includes the new baseband, not all users can unlock 4.0.

Nobody knows for sure if the GM out now will be the final release. If you have the 5.11.07 baseband, you can unlock now using Blacksn0w RC2. If I were you, I would just wait. Just about a week away.

Ultrasn0w has always been able to unlock 4.26.08 baseband.

All dev team did I suppose is make it run under 4.0 code?

I think it'll take some work to get the baseband actually included with 4.0 to be unlocked. I'm hoping at least since I want to take my new iPhone4 to Italy this fall.

Does activation work?? Everybody who seems to be doing this upgrade seem to use there normal carrier?
