uMBP 15'', brightness level in low light conditions

Hi all,

i keep my MPB on 1/16 brightness level in low light, and it took me more than a month to get used to. What is the highest level of brightness you can tolerate in low light conditions?

I dont want to sound too sensitive but sometimes it looks almost too bright even on min settings.

Its not just you... In low light many time I say the same thing.

I'm almost certain someone mentioned a program that will enable you to make it dimmer but I forgot what it was called.

I dont really like it since you lose some contrast and white looks gray
