Hi,

I have the uMBP 2.4Ghz, 250GB 5400-rpm, 2GB ram, 9600m gt from October 2008. It has been a little bit slow these days. Its not as responsive as it used to be. I generally have a lot of apps running. I'm looking to upgrade this machine. What components do you recommend I upgrade.

This is what I always have open. Word, Excel, Mail, Safari w/ 4ish tabs. Sometimes iTunes. Sometimes MATLAB.

Here is a pic of iStat:

Thanks!!

Get 4GB of RAM and you will be all good. I have a mini that has 2 GB and it is usable but slow. 4GB will give you I nice boost and consider a 7,200HD. Both upgrades are relatively cheap and easy to do.

+1 From my take on your iStat, I would add more memory. The 7200rpm drive would also help, I would go with a larger drive to help maintain speed as you add more data.
