Its just I have two 15" late 09 MBPs sat by each other one with the LG screen and one with the Samsung. The LG has it really bad, the samsung only a little. Wondering if there was a general trend.

Also for comparisons sake took a look at the website with an old dell LCD i had kicking around expecting it to be awful - it aced all the tests. Dell 1, Apple 0. :(

they're replacing it? what did you do? go in or call? i have it really bad i always wondered what it was. all 11 of those images flicker badly.

how long will it take?

Some flickering on that test is normal. See the background explanation at the bottom of the page.

Old Dell LCDs are often very good, especially the Ultrasharp branded ones. Dell used to use mostly IPS/PVA/MVA panels, but now they mostly use TN panels because they are cheaper. The first three are usually much better in terms of image quality than TN.

My Dell 2209WA (IPS panel) flickers about the same as as my MBP (a TN panel--all laptop panels are TN as far as I know).
