I know it's supposed to underclock itself when I'm not doing anything to reduce heat. But the thing is, I can't get it to go full 2.4GHz no matter what I do. I opened up CPU-Z to check out some RAM info, and noticed it was at 1592MHz.

I know that CPU-Z displays CPU frequency in real time, because on my old laptop it would show 800MHz when it's idle, and 1600 when I'm using it. And when I software overclock my Asus Eee 701, I can also monitor the frequency changes in real time.

So I was shocked then the MBP CPU frequency stayed at 1592MHz during demanding game play, and divx conversions. I can see it's using 100% of the CPU in the task manager, but it refuses to go to full speed. When it reaches 100% at 1592MHz, you would expect it should switch to 2400MHz, but t doesn't.

I don't really need heavy computing power in OSX, but I bought the Pro model so I can occasionally play a game in windows, and I'd be pissed off it's limited to 1.6GHz for heat consideration by Apple. Can someone please run CPU-Z in windows to check if the CPU frequency ever reaches normal speeds?

thanks.
