uMPB 13' Occasional soft click in hard drive...normal?

My place is fairly quiet. I'm not sure if this has been going on since I bought a uMBP 2 months ago but for some weird reason, I decided to listen to my hard drive today. There would be an occasional hiccup or very soft click that can be heard every 22 seconds or so.

Is this normal?

Can you guys listen to your hard drives and let me know?

What hard drive do you have? My hard drive just sounds like a quiet hum =]. In some hard drives audible 'clicks' may occur when writing/reading files.

I have the stock one that came with the late 2009 uMBP model - a 160gb 5400rpm.

I also hear a hum but like I said, once in a while, a faint click is heard when I'm utilizing that hdd.

Does it have g force protection? Model number? (Find in either disk utility or system profiler)

You gave volume information, not disk information...

Okay, your hard drive doesnt seem to have shock protection so it not a conflict with the mac's shock protection (heads parking etc..). If your hard drive is working normally and its just this quiet sound every now and then I would say its fine.

Cool. I mean I would think it is okay as temperatures are normal and I haven't experienced any freezes or whatnot.
