UMTS USB Stick

I use a Compass 885 UMTS USB-Stick with my Macbook (Mac OSX 10.5.6). I can connect to the internet without problems. But, AFTER my macbook has gone to sleep-mode or after i disconnect the internet connection in the software, my Macbook is not able to find the modem anymore. I then have to swith off the USB modem, stick it in again and then the macbook recognizes the modem again. Can anyone help me?
